Enter Ventura County's version of the Superbank. The near mile long stretch of coast known as Pitas Point, fronted by the beach community of Faria, is angled perfectly to reel off magnificent right lines during the winter season -- and the occasional oddball left that spins across the point during summer souths. The point itself is a combination of sand and rock that makes for predictable peaks and shoulders. The outside walls breaking off the main point, offer lines on a low tide that can leave you dizzy with excitement and skipping up the beach on your way back out to the lineup for more. As the surf grows in size, the sections link up and can make for one heck of a long, intense ride.
The inside is a different animal altogether, and is enjoyed by both beginners and performace longboarders the same. Consider this the Pitas Point bunny slope. The gently sloping bottom allows for the waves to break in a much more gradual and user friendly manner, in contrast to the runaway freight trains on the outside.

Crowd Factor: A pretty popular spot. There's a devoted crew of local shortboarders and longboarders that have got the place wired. Although, with so much elbow room due to the vastness of the point, the crowd spreads out rather nicely. The most concentrated pack can usually be found right off the point where the rights start spinning down the line. Secondly, you've got the inside that's usually pretty congested with tankers and beginners on their foam boards.
Location: Pitas Point is pretty easy to spot on any map. It's the big elbow shaped hunk of land protruding out into the Pacific between Solimar Beach and Seacliff.
Access: Easy access bro. Just park along Pacific Coast Highway and make your way down to the shoreline. With the big homes dotting the beach, just be sure you don't accidently cut through someone's yard in the process. Both the base and top of the point offer direct access to the water's edge.
Amenities: Free parking and a great view of the waves from the main lot near the base of the point on the mountain side of Pacific Coast Highway. There's a cool campground at the top of the point called Faria County Park. It's a good place to check the point surf and has the usual campsite ammenities available.
