Swell: With the old NW swell fading, a new round of northern hemi swell mix beings building into the second half of the day and makes full impact on Thursday. The morning sessions start off with average breaks running chest - shoulder high. By sundown, most winter breaks are overhead with intervals pulsing at 15 - 18 seconds. Secondary NW wind swell and background SW as well.
Conditions: Light AM offshore flow for cooperative and mild morning winds and clean to semi-clean conditions are expected. Westerly onshores gradually build throughout the day and hold into the afternoon up to 15 mph. Mostly clear and sunny skies with isolated patches of fog.

Swell: A hefty round of NW ground swell pushes in from a 290 - 300 degree origin. With a sufficient angle of approach and solid intervals, we can expect surf heights to run chest - head high at average breaks with winter standouts pushing overhead. Secondary NW wind swell integrates into the ground swell and helps shape at exposed sandbars.
Conditions: Continued light and cooperative morning winds with a mild offshore flow across central county. Sea breezes pick up from the SW - WSW and maintain into the evening. Patchy morning fog and low clouds followed by sunny afternoon skies.

Swell: Northern hemi energy begins to gradually back off throughout the day. Size and consistency experience a noticeable decline by the afternoon. With the fading NW swell mix, size dips into the chest - head high range. Size is expected to dip further into the weekend.
Conditions: Light and variable morning winds with a trace offshore element along the Oxnard Plain. Mostly calm conditions prevail. Afternoon winds shift in from the WSW in the 10 - 14 mph range. Mostly clear and sunny all day.

Notes and Outlook: Our current wind pattern indicates a temporary, mild offshore pattern moving into place. This will focus light winds across the Oxnard Plain for the next 48 hours and should help with clean morning surf conditions.
Water temps have dipped a bit, our regional average is now at 56 degrees. The coolest water can currently be found along south county.
Our UV index will be hovering around 8 - 9 over the next few days. This is considered high, so be sure to apply sun screen if you're planning on any extended sessions, especially into the afternoon hours.
Our current swell schedule indicates a slow decline in wave heights after the Thursday swell heading into the weekend. Our next shot at a significant swell event will be into the second half of next week when a decent southern hemi pulse bumps summer breaks into the overhead range. Stay tuned. Your next update is Saturday (4/28). I'll see you in the water.
